Deezer

Response to my nickname is either one of four things:

    1. "Your nickname sucks!"
    2. "Cool nickname... what's it from?"
    3. "Do you like Weezer?!"
    4. "Geezer!"

    Hmm . . .

    1. Imagine if I was on AOL. "Deezer" is already taken, so I'd be "Deezer8143" or something. That would really suck. I have no idea why anyone else would want the nickname, but there are at least 5 other people on ICQ who go by "Deezer." WTF? Oh well.

    2. Why do I go by "Deezer?" Here's the story behind my nickname:
Sometime before I was a freshman in high school, I had given myself the nickname "Waz" (the first syllable of my immensely long last name is pronouned 'waz'). I had even done some doodles of an imaginary character named "Wazman." Heh, memories.... Also, my dad always called me "D," because my name is Dan, and I guess he felt my name was too long and needed to be abbreviated. Anyway, being the goofy guy that he is, he eventually added "-zer." So that's what he called me. "Deezer." Don't ask why, even he doesn't know.
Anyway, the weird thing is that during my romp through high school, two (two!) people called me "Waz" after hearing my last name. One of them even called me "Wazman" (!). I felt that I had found the perfect nickname for me.
When I finally got on the internet, my first internet service provider was AOL. When I tried to sign up, "Waz" and "Wazman" were already taken. WTF? So I chose "Wazman79." Anyway, when I finally switched from AOL to WOW! from CompuServe, I chose "Wazman79" again. Then when WOW! was being discontinued on January 30th, 1997, I switched to Super-Highway. By this time, I was sick of crappy ISPs and sick of the Wazman moniker. I needed a new nickname. When I signed up for Super-Highway on January 15, 1997, I chose "Deezer."
Yeah, the story sucks, but you wanted to know. So :P

    3. No. I don't like their music, sorry. My favorite band is nine inch nails.

    4. Yeah whatever. If you're going to call me anything, PLEASE don't call me "Danny" or "Dee" or "Deeze." Dan, Daniel, Deezer, or Deez are just fine, thanks. I guess you know when you've been on the internet too long when your nickname has a nickname. . . .
